About Cheyanne

Cheyanne is a Levy County native and still lives in her hometown of Chiefland. She graduated a proud Chiefland Indian in 2018 before heading to Tallahassee to study social work at Florida State University (go noles!). She earned her BSW in 2022 (after surviving the online class mess caused by Covid) and has since worked primarily in child welfare – working in investigations, adoptions and victim advocacy. She’s currently finishing up her MSW at FSU (graduating August 1!) and joined the New Ways team as an intern earlier this year.

In 2022, Cheyanne married her childhood crush, Dalton Koonce. Now, they are raising a firecracker of a toddler, Millie Jane, along with two dogs and five chickens. When she’s not in counselor mode or wrangling Millie, Cheyanne loves diving into a good book, hunting down a solid yard sale, or sipping on a cold Dr. Pepper. Her favorite sight every summer is that first full watermelon bus rolling through town (seriously, she’s obsessed with watermelon). Cheyanne is learning to trust God’s timing, not her own, and keeps Isaiah 60:22 close as a reminder that He always shows up right on time.

At New Ways, Cheyanne serves as a counselor and helps out wherever she’s needed in the office. Cheyanne is passionate about serving rural communities, especially Tri-County, and she’s proud of the work New Ways does to support and strengthen the community. Cheyanne says she's thankful for how the New Ways team pours love, wisdom and spiritual guidance into each other at every opportunity, and she is excited to be able to pour that same love and guidance into her clients.
